After the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro, Today HTC announced its new HTC S740, HTC is now bringing the HTC S740 in the same design language, with piano black finish and faceted back, resembling a diamond. HTC Touch Dual

As with its older brother, the HTC Touch, the new HTC Touch Dual takes the proven Windows Mobile 6 formula and bolts-on elements to make navigating with a finger far easier. What differentiates the HTC Touch Dual from the original Touch is a slide-out keypad, either in a 12-key numeric layout like a regular phone, or a 20 key SureType-like QWERTY layout similar to that seen on some Blackberry and Samsung devices. This addresses the principal concern of the original Touch: data input. Most everything else about the device is the same as the original, which is far from a bad thing, so be sure to check out our review of that device as well as this one. There HTC Touch Dual.

HTC P6500

The HTC P6500 is a handset aimed primarily at large corporate customers who want a platform that they can build business applications on - it isn't aimed at the consumer market and will probably not be available through standard retail outlets.

This is a Windows Mobile 6 device with a large 3.5" 240x320 pixel anti-glare touchscreen, a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, a barcode scanner, a fingerprint sensor for security, twin SDIO ports for memory expansion or peripherals and the P6500 has built-in GPS.

Network connectivity is via tri-band HSDPA and UMTS or quad-band GSM with GPRS and EDGE data. The P6500 also has WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0.

There's some confusion over the amount of memory in the HTC P6500 - some sources say 1GB, some say 256MB. It's possible that there is more than one variant, but if this is important to you then check before ordering. You can add more memory using an SD card in one of the SDIO slots.

So who would buy the HTC P6500? HTC suggest that logistics companies and the emergency services are two possible types of customer. To get the best out of the P6500, you'll really need to roll your own applications to go with it. The rich combination of features does mean that the P6500 is an unusually capable handset. It might also appeal to hobbyists and programmers who want to work on something a little different.

HTC aren't the only people producing handsets in this market - Motorola recently acquired Symbol Technologies who make similar types of devices, and there are a few other players in this market too. HTC say that the P6500 should be available from November onwards, but did not give any guidance on pricing.

HTC unveils

Mobile device maker HTC has shifted up a gear and announced a handheld based not on Windows Mobile but Windows Vista. Dubbed Shift, the sub sub-notebook boasts the full array of wireless connectivity, including 3G HSPDA.
Shift is essentially a step up from the X7500 Advantage HTC unveiled in February this year. The new model is slightly larger, with a 7in widescreen display and a 30GB hard drive. Since it runs Windows Vista Business, presumably it has a decent CPU and GPU, though HTC declined to provide a detailed specification for the machine.

It did say Shift will feature Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS HSDPA connectivity. Although HTC didn't say so, the device also has a front-mounted webcam for video calls, and fingerprint scanner. It has at least one full-size USB port.

When closed the machine measures around 19 x 13.5 x 3cm, the manufacturer indicated - or "about the size of two DVD cases", as it put it.

Shift is due to make its way into the hands of handheld users in Q3. HTC promised more details closer to that time.
